M.T.I.: How long have you been training?
D.P.: I have been training for competitions for almost 2 years now.
M.T.I.: Where did you grow up?
D.P.: I grew up in Boyle County Kentucky
M.T.I.: When did you start to compete?
D.P.: At the end of 2007. At the FAME North American Championships in Miami Florida. Once I steped on stage for the first time I knew it was a true passion and I would continue to compete.
M.T.I.: What is your training like on and or off season?
D.P.: On season I stick to a pretty strict schedule. Since I work a full time job. I have to get my workouts an cardio in when I can. I usually wake up at 4 a.m. an do a 2 mile run before work. During my lunch hour I will hit the gym for an hour upper body workout. Then after work I wll hit the gym again to work different body parts on different days. I stick to this routin 6 days a week during season. On the off season I will run 4-5 times a week and workout after work 6 days a week. I still train hard and maintain a strict diet but allow myself to deviate from my training a little more during the off season.
M.T.I.: Who are your idols in the sport?
D.P.: I truely admire both Jamie Eason and Ava Cowan. I think they are both great representatives of the fitness world and wonderful people as well.
M.T.I.: Has anyone ever told you you look like Jennifer Grey?
D.P.: I get that all the time.
M.T.I.: Give us your routine on and off season.
D.P.: During season I eat lots of tuna, grilled chicken, salad, steaksweet potatoes, veggies, almonds, protein shakes and fat free popcorn as a snack. Off season I still have a clean diet. I will eat more carbs on the off season. Like a regular potato. I will also indulge in a goo home cooked pot roast every now and again. i love fruit and eat plenty of it during the season but I will cut back with fruit intake during season to limit my sugar intake.
