Former Staten Islander James Caruso (Ret. NYPD) reigned
supreme atSunday’s 2nd Annual Return to Muscle Beach
Bodybuilding competition at, Jones Beach, NY. Caruso,
who went from a competitive bodybuilder in his younger
Staten Island days to “328 pounds of blubber,” as he
described it, was crowned Mr. Jones Beach after winning
three competitive challenges.

Sporting a finely tuned chiseled body, Caruso heeded his
doctor’s warning to loose weight and get in shape. “Even if
I win the Mr.Universe contest tomorrow, I will always cherish
this win the most,”he said afterwards. “I surpassed
competitors half my age,” Caruso said
with a combination of suprise and delight. Bodybuilders
of all ages participated. Harry Reiter, 91, of Long Beach,
NY was this year's oldest competitor.
The event was presented by world renowned bodybuilding
record breakers Dan Lurie and Steve Michalik.
